Prayers and Praises

Uighurs of Post-Soviet Central Asia

Prayer

Uighurs of Post-Soviet Central Asia
(WEE-ghurs) - As a people, the Uighurs are superstitious. They have taken Islam and added animism to it, making it what is called folk Islam. This includes going to healers, placing curses on one another, and using talismans to ward off evil spirits. They pin the evil eye on their babies as a means of protection. The Uighurs in post-Soviet Central Asia are very fearful of poor health and have no confidence in the socialized medical system. Therefore, they go to healers and delve into the occult. They curse each other out of anger and frustration. It's a method of revenge.
Pray against the stronghold of fear that the evil one has over them. Ask that they will see truth and live in the freedom of Christ. Pray that they will come to know the Father and learn to deal with their emotions in a positive and loving way.
